Dickinson season 2 will premiere on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021 on Apple TV+. Per Apple’s usual release strategy, the first three episodes will be made available on the day of release and new episodes will follow every Friday. Here is that first look teaser. It would appear that Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) and her friends have gathered for a spiritual summoning ceremony. The young poet wants to know if she should seek fame. The spirits respond with a pretty unambiguous “no.” Of course, in reality Dickinson never received anything approaching fame, with most of her work only being discovered after her death in 1886 at age 55. But this isn’t Dickinson…it’s Dickinson and if the series wants its title character to have fame then fame she shall have.  Apple TV+’s official synopsis for season 2 reads: “In the second season, Emily Dickinson (Steinfeld) is pulled out of her private literary life and thrust into the public eye, while struggling with the sense that the pursuit of fame might be a dangerous game for her to play.” Dickinson was created, written and executive produced by Alena Smith, who also serves as showrunner. Hailee Steinfeld executive produces the series in addition to starring.  Alongside The Morning Show, For All Mankind, See, and Ghostwriter, Dickinson was a part of the first batch of original series available on Apple TV+ for the streaming service’s Nov. 1, 2019 launch. The show garnered a Peabody Award for its well-received first season. Dickinson now also has the honor of being the first Apple show to be renewed for a third season. As part of its announcement, Apple did not clarify when season 3 will go into production or receive a release date.
